Sticker

Okay I'm going to be silly and talk about my cat named Sticker in this post. We adopted a stray kitty this past July when she showed up on our porch and never really left. My feeding her could have contributed to that fact. But she "stuck" around (hence her name), so after much cajoling and begging, Blake finally turned a blind eye to being a cat owner and I got her a collar. :) But of course, now, they are big buddies. She's still an outdoor cat, I won't let her stay inside, but with the harsh weather lately we've been feeling sorry for her and letting her in to the house just in the evenings from about 5:30-10:30. Then we kick her out. I got some pictures and they are so cute! She's the most awesome cat ever. I've trained her to stay on her bed on the black chair in our living room and she doesn't roam or anything. If she's not laying on Blake. :)

Dress Pics from our First Anniversary in 2007

I found some pics of that dress from our first anniversary dinner together in Jan '07. This is the dress I wore to my work party this past Monday that I tried to describe:

For our first anniversary we went back to our honeymoon hotel (The Omni) for a night, then stayed at a cheaper hotel for the other night of our trip! It was fun to relive our wedding day and see the sweet surroundings that created wonderful memories.

Us returning to our hotel after a fabulous dinner at "3 Forks" restaurant in Dallas. FYI, Blake is wearing the outfit he wore on our wedding day. :)

Gotta have a pictures of the shoes! They slipped off my feet too much though, so I had to return them after the date night.

Today is my spiritual birthday, too. :) I'm 20 years old! I accepted Jesus into my heart on Dec. 18, 1988. I love you Jesus!

Brother In Town

My brother is here! It's lots of fun. He's working for a week here in OKC and staying at our house. On Monday night I had my office Christmas party. It was at the Skirvin Hotel and we had really good food. I think I liked Blake's beef tenderloin better than my chicken and asparagus though. But I still liked mine. I had the better dessert: chocolate chip biscotti with green tea ice cream. It was really good. Here's a picture of us there-->

I didn't get a picture of my dress! Man! I just thought of that. It was a black halter cocktail dress with satin ties and an asymmetrical bottom hem. I was cold.

Tonight is our last concert of 2008. We're not going to make a big deal of it, this church has us repeatedly so it'll be very relaxed and we'll try out some new Christmas music on them. Hopefully I'll remember the lyrics this time...

I just discovered a new book trading website: www.swaptree.com You can list books you want to trade and books you want to receive for your trade and the website matches you with people of similar requests! I'm excited to see if I get any match-ups soon. The books are free but you pay to ship it to the person you're matched with.

Forgotten Lyrics

I sang a new Christmas song with Blake last night at his concert. I learned it on Sunday (same day) so I guess I did pretty good! I sang two of the verses. The second verse I sang had about 4 lines. I got the first one! Haha, the others I think I just blanked and said a couple of the words. Then we both came in on the chorus and the rest of it was good. Haha, it's just funny. I can remember a time when I would have been mortified. Same with Blake. But, we both forget lines every now and then. Since we sing so much I guess it's not as earth-changing each time. But it still was like, Man! I knew those lines!! I was singing them in my head and there was some sort of blockage. I mainly feel bad for the audience because they have to be uncomfortable until I find the words. Oh well! I had a smile on my face. :) Thank goodness it was a funny/upbeat song instead of a ballad! Blake only forgets the lyrics to the songs he writes so I think that is bizarre.

All in the all the concert went well! We had a big turnout for the town of Corn. Blake was a little down on himself because his voice is so vocally tired but I thought he did awesome considering on Saturday he couldn't sing at all. He nailed "Mary Did You Know." We're looking forward to the day with no allergies and perhaps other group members to take the pressure off the soloist!

My little brother (age 21) is coming to stay with us this whole week! He's trying out a job installing sound systems to see if it'd possibly be a career he'd like to do. So I'm excited he's coming!

Nighttime Perils

So Sunday night after small group I went home prepared to enjoy my last night (so I thought then) to myself before Blake got back from his trip. I was into a good book and stayed up late reading it ('The Valley of the Horses' by Jean Auel. I rate this book a 2.5 out of 5 because the author got way into explaining how the neanderthals make their tools and I'd rather hear about the horses). I was tucked into bed in my jammies with my lamp on. All of a sudden at 11:30pm my doorbell rings. Twice. Tell me, does your blood pressure skyrocket in those situations? I jump out of bed and reach for my cell phone. I dial "911" and hover next to my bed waiting for any other sound to prompt me to hit "dial!" I skirt around the lit living room and looked out of Blake's office windows in time to see a big black suburban pulling away from being parked outside my house. How freaky!! I was thanking God that I'd set the house alarm before I went to bed so it would sound if the door was opened.

So, heart pounding I kept looking out the windows making sure no one else was there. Then I went and got the biggest kitchen knife I could find and went back to bed. I don't know how I went back to sleep but I did. I guess nothing really happened but man I was scared!

First Post

I saw all my friends blogs on here and wanted to join the fun! I figure when things start getting busy and I have to travel more this would be an awesome way to keep in touch. Nothing much new, I am trying to patiently wait for Blake to get back from his work trip. It's been pretty grueling I hear. I haven't gotten to talk more than 3 min at a time with him for over a week. He's really good about calling every few hours though even if it's just to say "Hi, Bye". I feel loved! He says he's missed me the most ever this time so that's been neat. He was supposed to get home tonight but it has been delayed until tomorrow. I guess I can wait. I rented some foreign films from the library to watch while he's gone so I'll be busy. Gotta rent the chick flicks and foreign films while he's gone! I started watching the "Planet Earth" documentary dvd series and that's been awesome. On the first dvd they had a slow-mo great white shark attack that is breathtaking. It comes completely up out of the water with it's jaws slamming shut with a seal all the way in it's mouth. It then flips out of the water and you see the whole body of the shark...I dunno I'm a dork about that stuff. I just sat and watched with my mouth hanging open and a slow "whoooaaaa" coming out.
