We made it back. I'm surprised! It was a pretty crazy weekend schedule (well, for us at least). We had Saturday sound checks in Farmers Branch, then a Sunday morning concert there. Then we drove to Lawton for a PM concert and we made it on time! But oh, I should have gotten a picture. We have another story for our concert chronicles... Blake and I destroyed church property. Not on purpose. So Saturday we are driving to the church and pulling our 6'x12' trailer with all our equipment in it. Blake has always been really good at judging if he can fit under those covered drive through things. (Do you see where this is going?) We pull in and the music minister and his friend are waiting for us at the doors and Blake drives the car under the "thing" (what do you call that?) All of a sudden "SCRRRAAAPPPE!" We look at each other in horror and are like "no way, did that really happen?" We are wedged under the carport with the first 3 feet of our trailer acting as another column to hold up the roof. So then we had to back it out. Another SCRAPE and then we hear a CRACK! Blake is dying of embarrassment and the church guys are frozen in their shoes. We get out to check the damage and we've ripped off a good 3 feet of wood siding from their carport. Luckily, we didn't actually do any structural damage to their thing though, and the music guy kept assuring us it was an easy fix. So that is how we started our sound checks....stumbling over ourselves with apologies and broken bits of wood. The music guy laughed and predicted "You'll tell that story in another concert, you know you will!" I think he might be right.
I should have gotten a picture, it's kinda funny. Funny, especially since we didn't pull their carport down on our trailer. That would not qualify as funny. This video is how I felt though. But I'm still alive, which is debatable for this driver:
(Isn't that horrible?)
The rest of the weekend was damage free. Blake did though, in his delirium driving home from Lawton, almost wreck the trailer and kill us, but that's another story. Maybe I'll tell it when he's stopped being mad at me for yelling at him. Sorry Babe! It was an intense moment.
Now I'm back at work and debating whether to get another cup of coffee. I'm going for it.

Good Book
Ever have a book that you read that you just so into and you think about it when you're not reading it and even sometimes dream about it? Well, I just finished one of those books. I'm even still thinking about it now after I'm done!!
It's "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. It's a historical fiction about King Henry and his wives and two sisters who vie for the king's affections. It's not dirty at all and it's just so fun! Medieval times are my favorite time period to read about (that or the Roman time period). I love all the drama and cunning and planning and corruption and rivalry between the girls. It's really well written and really long so you can settle in for a great read that will occupy you for a while instead of it quickly grabbing you only to have it end after a couple of days!
I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't pass judgment on it yet. But I plan to rent it next week. I've heard it's not all that great, but I bet it tries to cram every event in the book into the movie which would make it just a confusing 2 hours.
Yuck my coffee is cold

Because I'm Helpful Like That
Because I'm such a helpful person.... ;)
We were having some minor computer problems at home with my computer not connecting to the Internet and we were getting so frustrated! But I didn't know who to ask or go to to fix it so we kinda just endured it for a while. Then I got fed-up. I found this Oklahoma City guy that comes to your house!! He was so affordable and knew exactly what he was doing. I highly recommend him!!
Gotta support awesome self-employed people. (Which reminds me, Mary of ToMorrow's Memories Photography is also awesome!! Book a session with her! http://tomorrowsmemoriesphotography.blogspot.com )

I Hate My Desk
I really have to vent about my desk at work. It's awful. I took a picture with my camera phone to see if I could upload that tonight. My desk is really loooong and really narrow. So I can't do real work on it like actually spreading out papers or anything. And my chair doesn't roll underneath the desk because the desk is so high and bumps into the armrests so I have to sit either way back in my chair or on the very tippy front part. Because I am on the computer all day long, typing and doing whatever, it's really important for my desk to be comfortable and the mouse and keyboard to work for me! The desk is also built into the floor so no chance of convincing anyone to get me a new desk that is actually designed for a human to sit at it and work. So, I've worked here over 3 years now and am having a lot of wrist pain lately! Dun dun dun... so of course I freaked out and had my chiropractor look at my wrist. I have a "ganglion cyst". It's a sac of fluid that bulges beneath the skin that has developed from the friction of my wrist movements at work and it's not dangerous or anything...just irreversable and annoying. It's also known as a "Bible bump" which I thought was funny because in the "olden days" they used to pop the bump by hitting it with the family Bible. But doctors today have ruled that treatment as "less than recommended" since people often broke the bones in their wrist from the impact!
So I am less than amused that I have this cyst for life. But this morning, I started feeling my elbow along with my wrist giving me those cold little sharp fatigue warning pains...and I freaked again. I'm not going to be a receptionist martyr. So I asked my IT guy for a keyboard that didn't have a tilt radius of 80 degrees...and he didn't but he had one an extra keyboard that didn't tilt as dramatically. My desk is built really high and my chair won't raise up high enough to get my arms at an angle where my hands are down. So I'm always reaching up for my mouse or keyboard and it's wearing on my body!
So I spent a little while this morning trying all sorts of arrangements to get my desk workable. I think I will have to settle for 2 phonebooks to prop under my screen and a wrist rest that stretches 6" past my keyboard. I can't get my chair any higher to sit above the desk. Agh! My arm hurts....
Oh and to top it off...this keyboard smells like moldy food. I'm bringing Q-tips tomorrow and going to town on this thing. It's grossing me out to even sit by it.

Pita Bread Pizza
I'm making this tonight.
Pita Bread Pizza

I have 3 pita bread rounds leftover from my attempt at Falafels. I paid $4 for like 5 pieces of bread. I am still irritated about that, but I needed pita bread to do the falafels! This is a falafel:
I made falafels in the crockpot. Oh yes I did. If you want to, here's the recipe:
MAKE FALAFELS IN MY CROCKPOT
But! I hate leftovers so I never ate the rest of my falafels (I just like saying and typing that word) hence my leftover pita bread. Rather than just eat a pita bread plain (which I did for dinner one night last week when I was sick) again....I saw I could make little pizzas! My spaghetti did not turn out well last night. (Who knew you could ruin spaghetti. But oh yes: I can. My meat was really old and it tasted really old. Pretty chewy. It was gross.)
I'm rambling and don't even know if it will taste good. But I'm in a good mood and optimistic about my pita bread pizza. Then I'm going to bible study. That's my night tonight.
*****UPDATE 3-18-09
SO yummy!! I made a good meal again, I'm so excited! I made my own pizza sauce from an internet recipe and it was too salty, but that was my only critique. Will definitely be making this again! So easy!!
Pita Bread Pizza
- 4-6 pita rounds (white or whole wheat)
- 1 cup of pizza sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- toppings of your choice (veggies, cooked meats, cheeses) I'm poor so all I have is cheese in the house.

This Week
I must say this is the hardest week I've had in a while. I think just being sick, Blake being gone, booking not going well, Blake being sick, and etc etc just all together has made it very hard emotionally. Yesterday was a very bad day. I had me some quiet time with God last night though so I feel a little encouraged. I have to keep reminding myself that everything in this world is His and I'm so small compared to everything else.

Feeling Better
Well, after battling a high fever all day yesterday (102.5 is where it peaked) it's now gone and I feel so much better. Still out of it but a lot better. We had to cancel our concerts this weekend because Blake had the high fever Thurs and Fri and is battling a deep cough.

Great Weekend
Wow, today has been super busy... it's already 3 and I didn't get to any booking yet... I did just book Blake a small tv appearance in Tulsa, though...so that's cool.
We had a great weekend! So relaxing. We slept in on Saturday and ate leftovers and watched a movie that night. Blake played around with his sound equipment and made a new song. I'll see if I can post it soon. I read my book while he wailed away in his office.
We found a new web designer and she fixed our photo gallery on Blake's site. So I'll be redoing the photos on there sometime soon. Oh, if anyone has any contacts in Colorado Springs or near Fayetteville, AR, I'm needing some concerts in those areas. Doesn't hurt to ask!
Oh man my phone is ringing off the hook...
